falling (free or otherwise)
of course if the falling isnt free, does that automatically indicate a push or merely a slip? that begs the obvious question, is a slip intentional at some sub-conscious level or are we giving the feeble mind too much credit? then there are the creationists that would argue that all actions, good, bad or indifferent, are pre-ordained and mere mortals have no influence upon there fate.
if that's true then it relieves one of a dreadful responsibility and like the pregnant girl i could say that 'the devil made me do it'. somehow i don't think that is going to fly and there are those that consider that i undertake actions with full knowledge and eye's wide open. i count myself in that camp.
some argue that all fall at some point or another, just as, inevitably, all fail. did jesus fail in death, or did his god fail him by allowing his death? and if it was pre-ordained, well, see point three above. i ponder this as i ponder all fallings and failings and the seven things that causeth man to wonder.
wonder if they teach that in your school? been awhile since i read the big book of stories as selected by a few individuals throughout history but i do remember some of the seven things....the way of a bird in the air, the way of a fish in the sea, the way of a serpent on a rock and most intriguing the way of a man with a maid.
with that prologue aside here are the forms of falling (failing) that i've experienced.
ive fallen
from trees and roofs
flat on my face
into a pile of shit
on hard times
from grace
into a bed of silk
asleep
hard
to my death
and i can't get up
into a trap
between the chairs
into a crack
into a funk
down
across
under
on top of
beneath
under the wheels
short
shy of expectations
into some luck
in love
sideways
out of contention
into the arms of
on my ass
away
....the list goes on and on

hmm. I think you're better than you make yourself out to be. You know that. I love you.
